The challenge
Trailmix Games needed a reliable QA partner for Love and Pies - a live mobile game with a growing player base and a rapid content release cadence. With updates shipping regularly, the challenge was maintaining QA quality while keeping pace with multiple simultaneous project priorities.
Our approach
We embedded directly into Trailmix's workflow, adopting their tools and sprint cadence from day one. Our testers built deep familiarity with the game's systems, allowing us to test new content in context rather than in isolation. Key activities included regression testing across all game modes with each update, exploratory sessions on new content and mechanics, cross-platform verification on iOS and Android, and proactive reporting with clear severity classification.
The outcome
Over the course of the partnership, we helped Trailmix maintain release confidence across multiple major updates and seasonal events. Our testers became familiar enough with the game that they could flag UX issues and balance concerns - not just technical bugs. The result: releases that went out on schedule, with player-facing issues caught before they reached the live game.
Alkotech Labs has been a reliable partner for us over the last years on the Love and Pies project here at Trailmix. Although they are fully remote with team members not in a single location - they have been able to cultivate strong relationships with the internal team in order to work on multiple project priorities simultaneously and ensure releases go out in a timely fashion to meet player needs.
